IN A WORD

On the surface, kembali is a simple Indonesian word that means to return or come back.

But if you dig, you'll find that it's also the root of the word mengembalikan, meaning to give back or restore.

And in everyday speech, kembali also means you're welcome.

We embrace all those meanings.

PURPOSE

We're tiny, and if this project was any smaller it wouldn't exist. Just me, Ben, dreaming, planning, designing, sourcing, and roasting the best coffee I can, for you and for them.

Finding and sharing great coffee is a thrill for us. We strive to help you discover coffees — origins, varietals, and producers — that you love and return to. These coffees are for you.

We're the last link in a long chain that brings coffee to you. On the far end are the producers who develop outstanding products, carry significant risk, and often lack market access. Kembali Coffee Roasters exists to help those producers find an appreciative audience. So, these coffees are for them.

And this is why we hope the project grows.

ROASTING

We source and roast with an intense focus on quality, highlighting what is special and unique in a given bean. Generally, this means a bias toward lighter roasts that preserve complexity, sweetness, and varietal and origin characteristics. But deeper roasts help some beans shine, and are rightly loved by many. So we maintain offerings across this spectrum, roasting to put each bean or blend in the best possible light.

Kembali Coffee Roasters is based in Easton, MA. We currently roast in a cooperative facility in Queens, NY.
